Quality pro controller at half the cost!
Sorry not sorry for the pun. Anyway, this controller is basically the same as Binbok’s already very good transparent controller. Of course, one of the main advantages this Cracked controller has over that one, is in the materials they used. The surface of this controller has a sort of old hard leather feel to it. It makes it very interesting to hold(which is an important criterion for a great controller IMO), and as an added benefit, it doesn’t get slippery if you go into Sweaty Gamer Mode(or if you’re just warm). You can feel all the cracks, in case anyone was wondering. They used a more textured plastic on the back as well.
Obviously, this controller is very striking to look at. If this thing is on and guests come over, there’s a 0% chance they aren’t gonna notice this. It’s like a work of art crossed with a 90s Mountain Dew commercial – that is to say, totally radical, dude!
Functionally, it’s perfect. It Wakes the Switch, has a really nice D-pad(which passes the Tetris Attack challenge), and like their transparent controller, it is very comfortable from a perspective of ergonomics. Also, I would just like to mention the tastefully tapered face buttons.
Now when we get to value considerations, this controller checks those boxes too. Look at the price vs some other similarly-priced controllers. There are still a ton of third-party controllers at this price and higher that don’t even wake the Switch, on top of being boring or having questionable build quality or not looking like the thing that killed the dinosaurs. It’s a good deal.
Oh, by the way, it also works fine on Steam wirelessly – picked right up as a “Pro Controller” (like most Switch controllers but some of them do not like being connected to a PC). It also works wired on a PC as an Xbox controller.
I guess I’d like to see a couple of back buttons, and maybe a mode where the lights cycle colors, but that’s about it.
So yeah I’d say it’s all it’s cracked up to be.
